Jubilee Insurance 38th National Snooker Championship 2013 to Kickoff in March

The 38th Jubilee Insurance National Snooker Championship is being organized by Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) from March 17-25 2013 at Karachi Gymkhana. This was announced in a press briefing organized by PBSA and Jubilee Insurance in Karachi.

The details about the upcoming and second championship of the new calendar year, to be spread over 9 days, were unveiled by Mr. Alamgir Shaikh, President PBSA, in the presence of senior officials from Jubilee Life and Jubilee General.

The tournament will feature 40 players who will be divided into 8 groups, 5 cueists in each group. The top two cueists from each of four groups will reach the knockout phase, staring with the quarter-finals.

“The 2013 Jubilee Insurance National Snooker Championship is definitely going to be an interesting tournament because many new faces are emerging on the surface as champions. We are thankful to Jubilee Insurance’s continuous support and contribution, which makes it possible for snooker players to receive exposure to such tournaments,” said Mr. Alamgir. “Many new players are putting in great determination and efforts during the game and showing their class. If they continue their tremendous performance in the upcoming major ranking snooker events, we expect them to play at international level and challenge world-class players,” he added.

It is the untiring efforts and dedication of PBSA we appreciate, due to which we have produced world champion,” said Mr. Javed, CEO & Managing Director of Jubilee Life.

“I am pleased to see that snooker is gaining popularity in the country with time. We believe that championships like this one are great platforms for players who are dedicated to the game and we hope to see them represent our country at Asian and world level as well,” said Mr. Tahir Ahmed, Managing Director of Jubilee General.

The total prize money for the 38th Jubilee Insurance National Snooker Championship will be Rs 252,000 with the winner to take home Rs 80,000 and the runner-up to receive Rs 50,000. The losing semifinalists and quarter-finalists will be getting Rs 40,000 each.

The PBSA will also be organizing Jubilee Insurance Asian Snooker Championship 2013 from April 27 to May 03 in Karachi at a local hotel, where 20 to 25 countries from all over Asia are expected to participate, Mr. Alamgir informed. He further added that PBSA is in contact with Interior Minister for the assurance of fool-proof security of foreign players.
